This is a long-term opportunity on a flagship regional project with an anticipated four-year programme.The role starts during the early pre-construction stage, giving the successful Design Manager the chance to influence design development, technical compliance, procurement and buildability from the outset. The initial 12-month pre-construction phase will include regular travel to the London office before the project team moves to site in Bedfordshire.The RoleWorking as part of the project team, you will manage the design process from feasibility and planning through procurement, technical coordination and delivery. You will work closely with the client, consultants, commercial team and site delivery team to keep the design coordinated, compliant and aligned with the programme.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to project deliveryAct as the key link between the client, design consultants and site teamReview drawings, specifications and technical information for accuracy, compliance and buildabilityCoordinate external consultants and monitor performance against agreed deliverablesSupport procurement by identifying design requirements, risks and information deadlinesEnsure the design meets relevant regulations, standards, programme dates and commercial targetsResolve design queries and maintain clear communication across the wider project teamExperience RequiredAt least five years’ experience in design management for a UK main contractorExperience supporting or delivering large-scale construction or mixed-use development projectsStrong knowledge of pre-construction, design coordination, technical compliance and procurementConfident managing consultants, reviewing technical information and working with site teamsPrevious experience as a Design Manager, Assistant Design Manager, Technical Manager, Design Coordinator or Design & Build ManagerQualificationsAn HNC, degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline would be advantageous.
